Developed around SSL’s patented Optimal Core Processing (OCP) software using arrayed industrial PC hardware in a controlled operating environment, the TE1 Tempest Engine is housed in a lightweight, efficiently cooled 1RU chassis and offers two processing packs to scale in harmony with your production requirements.
Software licenses are available as perpetual or short-term time-based rental options. TE1 supports Processing Pack 1 & 2, TE2 supports all five packs. All System T surface and control variants can operate with all engines and software packs. Software licenses are available as perpetual or short-term time-based rental options. TE1 offers 256 path capacity and TE2 offers 800 path capacity. Paths and processing can be dynamically allocated in real time without interrupting audio.

With up to 1024 inputs and 1024 outputs per engine, System T TE1 can handle any mid-scale production. Tempest engines can be deployed as mirrored redundant pairs, with instant audio changeover, if required each engine can be placed in separate physical zones. TE1 supports one internal high capacity I/O card, or two for a redundant engine pair, providing native connectivity to Dante or ST 2110 networks.
Native Dante Connectivity
With System T, Dante AoIP network technology (with complete AES67 capability) replaces traditional TDM routing, with an ecosystem that offers a wide range of operational and commercial benefits. Dante is high-capacity, incredibly versatile and fully-scalable. A single gigabit network connection can carry 512 audio channels at 48kHz, or 256 channels at 96kHz. With 512 audio channels bi-directionally on a 1Gb connection, a single 24-port Gb switch is capable of equivalent routing capacity to a 12,288 by 12,288 TDM router.
Dante offers fully interoperable system design; over 600 licensed development partners with thousands of devices commercially available, enabling you to select and combine devices from different manufacturers. System T offers full routing control of the Dante network from within our consoles and control interfaces.
